Milly Johnson

About

Milly Johnson is a Sunday Times bestselling author of contemporary women’s fiction. She writes from the heart about what and where she knows and always highlights the importance of community. Her novels champion women, their strength and resilience, and celebrate love, friendship and the possibility of second chances.

In 2018, EDPR was engaged by Simon & Schuster to work alongside their team to further build Milly’s brand profile and engage new readers. Our partnership continues with the promotion of seven new novels, most recently the campaign for her 21st novel, The Happiest Ever After.

What we did

Milly is a proud Northerner – born and raised in Barnsley – and so our brand focus was developed to play to these strengths. With strategic and sustained placement of high-profile national media coverage including print interviews, features and broadcast, plus the curation of year-round events, Milly is now established as the fiction ‘Queen of the North’ and one of the Top 10 Female Fiction authors in the UK.

Milly’s novels are all Sunday Times Top 10 bestsellers with over 2.5 million copies sold in the UK alone. In January 2020, Milly was honoured with the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Outstanding Achievement Award, and she was a featured author in The Reading Agency’s Quick Reads and World Book Night campaigns for 2020.

Milly is a well-respected writer within the industry, and we have continued to build on that profile with speaking engagements that position her at the forefront of contemporary commercial fiction, including appearances at the London Book Fair and the British Book Awards in 2022.

The Woman in the Middle, published in 2021, saw Milly achieve her first Number 2 slot in the Sunday Times hardback fiction chart and Milly’s 20th book, Together, Again, reached Number 9 in the paperback fiction chart. The Happiest Ever After is her 21st novel and will be published in hardback in February 2024.
